Borich Wraps Up GNCC Title

9/28/2009

With two races left in the season, Chris Borich has ridden Razrs to his first GNCC ATV championship. Borich clinched the title after a bruising battle at Round 11, the Yadkin Valley Stomp, held September 26 in Yadkinville, North Carolina.

The race lead was up for grabs during the first few laps, changing hands from holeshot winner Bill Ballance to another rider and then to Brandon Sommers. Borich took the front spot during the third lap and held it for the remainder of the race. Ballance finished third in XC1, with fellow Maxxis riders Taylor Kiser in fourth, Sommers in fifth and Donald Ockerman sixth.

Borich was awarded his championship plate by Ballance, who held the title for the previous nine years. The two have been known as the Killer Bs for the past several seasons, as they jockeyed repeatedly for the top spot. "When I started racing, I started out just having fun in the B class. Ballance is a tough competitor. I've been behind him for years, and I finally did it. It was a real tight track out there, and I got into seventh place. I didn't know what to do so I just waited for someone to make a mistake," Borich told gnccracing.com.

Kiser currently holds second place overall, with Ballance, Sommers, Bryan Cook and Ockerman in the fourth through seventh place spots. The season’s last two races are scheduled for October 3-4 and October 24-25.

Maxxis congratulates Chris Borich on his championship and thanks all of its riders for their outstanding performances.
